My Story

We all have a unique story, and sharing our stories can be a powerful step towards healing. By sharing mine, I hope to create a space where you feel comfortable sharing yours.

In 2018, I made the courageous decision to resign from my career in education, recognizing signs of burnout and chronic PTSD. Numb and disconnected from my body, I felt lost, exhausted, and suddenly very alone. Seeking clarity about the next steps, I immersed myself in academia to make sense of my experience. However, analyzing "my story" in my doctoral program was retraumatizing me unknowingly while I grieved the life I once knew.

Fortunately, I found a therapist specializing in trauma healing. The long-term relationship we developed began my profound inner work, centered around the question, "Who am I?" With the unwavering support of my therapist (and many others), I completed my doctorate in Leadership for Change in March 2020, just as the world went into lockdown due to the Covid pandemic.

Amidst the challenges of the pandemic, I felt a deep calling in my heart and soul, guiding me to meet my true Self. Honoring that deeper knowing led me to train as a therapist at the California Institute for Integral Studies (CIIS), solidifying my decision to pivot away from education and towards a path of healing and service. This transformational decision has shaped me into the therapist I am today, dedicated to supporting others in their healing journeys.

I am aware of the privilege I hold as a white cisgender female (she/her pronouns) of predominantly Irish lineage. I recognize that my experiences are shaped by my race, gender, and socioeconomic status, and I am committed to using my privilege to uplift and amplify the voices of those who have been marginalized and oppressed.

As a therapist, I strive to create a safe and inclusive space for all individuals, regardless of their background or experiences. My experience has taught me the importance of empathy, understanding, and cultural humility in the therapeutic process. Each person's story is unique and deserves respect and validation.

Of course, I embody roles beyond that of a therapist. I am also a life coach and guide, a mother, a dancer, a humble yoga teacher and student, an artist, a singer, a gardener, a writer, and a devoted dog mom to my 3-year-old Maltipoo, Bodhi. These facets of my life enrich my practice, allowing me to connect deeply with others. Thank you for taking the time to read my story.

Stories are constantly changing and evolving, including yours. What's your story? I'm eager to learn about it and look forward to the possibility of supporting you on your own evolving journey.
