Deep Healing Through Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP)
If traditional talk therapies haven’t brought the relief you need from depression, anxiety, chronic pain, PTSD, or burnout, there’s another path. Ketamine, a legal psychedelic approved by the FDA, offers a powerful alternative for emotional healing.
With a personalized approach, you'll experience a transformative journey of preparatory sessions, guided Ketamine experiences, and integration therapy—each step tailored to your unique needs. This process helps you gain new insights, shift your perspective, and find real relief.
You won't be alone in this. I'll be there every step of the way, offering guidance and support to deepen your healing and foster meaningful change.

Ketamine-assisted psychotherapy (KAP) combines therapeutic techniques with prescribed Ketamine to explore healing in an expanded state of consciousness. These extended sessions (about three hours) help clients access deeper layers of healing, bypassing habitual thought patterns and allowing for new perspectives. Research supports Ketamine’s effectiveness in alleviating symptoms associated with depression, PTSD, anxiety, chronic pain, and other mental health challenges, offering new pathways for well-being.
-
KAP may help individuals with the following:
Treatment-resistant depression that does not respond to conventional treatments.
Anxiety disorders, including social anxiety and panic disorders.
PTSD by creating a safe space for trauma processing.
Chronic pain can be relieved by providing relief through emotional and neurological shifts.
Personal growth goals, offering insights for self-exploration.
Substance use recovery is achieved by addressing underlying emotional factors.

Originally approved as an anesthetic, Ketamine is now used in lower doses for mental health treatment. When administered sublingually (under the tongue), Ketamine induces a state where clients may experience relaxation and a break from everyday concerns, typically lasting 30 minutes to 2 hours. This altered state disrupts negative thought patterns, promoting healing and new perspectives. The effectiveness of KAP is influenced by dosage, mindset, and the environment ("set and setting").
-
Preparation: We’ll start with a comprehensive intake, including a medical evaluation to ensure suitability for ketamine. We'll discuss your history, treatment goals, and how to prepare for your session.
Expanded State Session: Each session lasts about three hours, beginning with intention-setting, followed by Ketamine administration. The effects peak around 30-40 minutes, lasting up to an hour and a half. We’ll guide you through the process and help integrate insights as the effects subside.
Integration: Post-session integration is crucial for lasting benefits. This phase leverages heightened neuroplasticity, enabling the brain to form new connections. We recommend at least one integration session after each KAP experience.
-
Consultation: A 50-minute initial assessment.
Medical Evaluation: A video consultation for Ketamine prescription with a medical provider (around $375 for the evaluation, $100 for medication for 3 sessions). I will provide the referral to the provider I work with.
Preparation Sessions: Three to five 50-minute sessions to build therapeutic relationship and for goal-setting.
KAP Sessions: Three-hour sessions either in my office (in the hills above Los Altos/Palo Alto) or your home.
Integration Sessions: Post-KAP sessions to embed insights.
Additional sessions or follow-up with the prescriber may be required.
-
Safety is my priority. A thorough medical intake to assess physical, mental, or medication-related risks will take place. Conditions like untreated psychosis, cardiovascular issues, or liver disease may require clearance before starting KAP.
Ketamine Use: While generally safe, Ketamine has risks, such as potential dependency. We emphasize a responsible approach, tailoring the dosage to your needs and ensuring safety through structured planning.
-
Ketamine’s effects begin within 10-15 minutes, with the peak experience lasting about an hour. The antidepressant benefits can persist for days to weeks, with several sessions often needed for lasting impact. Booster sessions may be scheduled as needed.

At first glance, KAP may seem like a significant investment. However, unlike traditional talk therapy, which can take years to uncover deep-rooted patterns, KAP works at the source—addressing the root cause rather than just the symptoms. This is an investment in profound, lasting transformation.

2. Pregnant women and/or nursing mothers.
3. Poorly controlled or untreated hypertension and other cardiovascular problems.
4. Poorly controlled or untreated hyperthyroidism.
5. Acute mania/Hypomania.
6. A history of psychosis or schizophrenia.
7. An existing allergy to Ketamine or past addiction to Ketamine.
8. A recent traumatic brain injury.
9. Severe obstructive sleep apnea or respiratory disease.
10. Obesity.
11. An ongoing substance abuse disorder or addiction.
12. History of bladder infections or cystitis. -
Ketamine has gained recognition as a powerful tool for healing, but not all ketamine treatments are the same. While both KAP and Ketamine infusion therapy utilize Ketamine’s therapeutic potential, their approach and intent differ significantly.
Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) integrates Ketamine with psychotherapy, offering a guided, meaning-making experience. In KAP, a trained therapist supports the process, helping clients explore emotions, insights, and patterns that arise during treatment. The goal is deep psychological healing and transformation.
Ketamine Infusion Therapy, on the other hand, is typically administered in a medical setting without psychotherapy. It focuses primarily on symptom relief, often used for treatment-resistant depression. While beneficial, it lacks the therapeutic integration that can enhance long-term healing.
Both have their place, but if you’re seeking not just relief, but deeper personal growth and healing, KAP may be the path for you. Learn more here.

Yes, KAP can be done individually or with a partner. Engaging in the process together can deepen connection, foster mutual understanding, and support relational healing. If you’re interested in exploring KAP as a couple, we can discuss the best approach for your needs.
